Outlook.com can now be "installed" on macOS

The Outlook desktop application, which is included as part of Microsoft's Office suite, can be "installed" on macOS. What we will install is the web application, since, now and natively, it supports progressive web applications (PWA, for its acronym in English).

In this way we can anchor a Web page on the desktop of our Mac, which takes us directly to Outlook. An unorthodox way to install this application. But the important thing is that it works.

Thanks to PWA we will have direct access to Outlook

Progressive web applications (PWA) are those that, while still being essentially websites, include better caching, notification features, and background functionality for look more like traditional apps.

So far it has been tested successfully with Chromium browsers, that is to say Chrome and Brave. It has not yet been done with Safari. But it's only a matter of time.

So that if you are using a browser like Chrome or Brave, the support Outlook.com is available right now. You can simply "install" Outlook.com from the address bar, and it will be treated as if it were a native macOS application.

This step by Microsoft regarding this mail application, makes us think that it also could do it with other products of the company such as Word and Excel.

In addition, he is also experimenting with the compatibility of Outlook with Gmail, Google Drive and Google Calendar. A very brave step on the part of the company. Wanting to join these Google services so widely used by users with Outlook. In this way, those Outlook email users could have access to all files and manage emails from the same place. What is called efficiency, a fundamental characteristic in day-to-day productivity.
