Parallels just released their next version of the virtualization software for OS X. Parallels Desktop 10 brings us a host of application performance enhancements with new features to bridge the gap between host and guest operating systems.
We will have a complete revision of the previous version having to take it as a performance benchmark upcoming in regards to PC virtualization in OS X Yosemite, yet here is a quick rundown of some of the key new features it incorporates:
- Full support for OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
- The Microsoft Office documents in the Windows virtual machine opens a 48 percent faster.
- Optimization of battery life with up to 30 percent more for the computer where the virtual machine is running.
- »New Disk Space« Wizard, which recovers disk space from virtual machines.
- Less use of RAM memory by virtual machines.
- Full integration of different OS X features (Twitter, messages, Facebook, etc.) in Windows applications such as Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office
- Snapshots of existing virtual machines can be taken up to 60 percent faster.
- The presets to create new virtual machines allow users to optimize different specific uses (Productivity, Gaming, Design, Software Development ...)
- Network latency for virtual machines on Linux improved by up to 300 percent.
Existing Parallels Desktop customers will be able to update its version for 49.99 Euros. The full version of the software will be available to new customers from August 26 for 79.99 Euros. The update version is only still available on the American website, we hope that soon they will also include it on the Spanish one.
Parallels is the coVMware Natural Repeater which is currently testing features scheduled for its upcoming Fusion 7 release among a group of testers and incorporating the "preview technology" that is under development. There is no date yet for when a general public release can be expected.
