Paul Otellini, who helped transition to Intel processors, dies at 66

Paul Otellini, the former CEO of Intel, who had a great influence on the transition from Apple to Intel, leaving PowerPCs aside, died earlier this week. Otellini passed away asleep on Monday, October 2 at the age of 66. Paul Otellini was Intel's fifth CEO and helped the company make some strategic adjustments that helped it maintain its leadership as the world's leading manufacturer of processors. Apple CEO Tim Cook has sent his condolences to the Otelleni family stating that Otellini was a great friend of the company.

Paul Otelli came to Intel in 1974 and gradually rose through the company until occupy the position of maximum manager in 2005. That same year, Apple announced that it would begin using Intel processors at the WWDC that was held, one of the biggest news in the world of technology that year. Under the guidance of Otellini, which lasted for 8 years, Intel has gradually become one of the largest companies in the world, earning more money than in the previous 45 years of history.

Many people have highlighted not only Paul's dedication, but also his optimism and insight that he demonstrated in each of the projects that he carried out. According to Brian Krzanich, current president of Intel, "His tireless drive, discipline and humility were the cornerstones of his leadership that the company now enjoys around the world."

Otelli left the company in 2013 and since then he has spent his time in philanthropic tasks of all kinds as well as financially collaborating on some of the projects that were presented to him. What is clear is that after his retirement, he never wanted to completely distance himself from technology, to whom he had given more than half of his entire life.
