Philips will launch an application for Mac that will allow us to manage Hue bulbs

The Dutch manufacturer Philips is one of the largest manufacturers that has opted for smart bulbs that we can control through a command directly or through an application on our mobile device. Once Philips Hue bulbs are compatible with the HomeKit ecosystem, the next step the company plans to take is launch an app for Mac.

This application, whose name will be Hue Sync, will allow us manage all the smart bulbs that we have installed in our home through our Mac, just as we can do from our smartphone, either iPhone or managed by Google's operating system called Android. At the moment the launch date has not been provided, but it is estimated that it will do so in the second quarter of the year.

Currently, in the Mac App Store we can find some applications that allow us to manage this type of light bulbs, but none of them is related to the Dutch manufacturer. With the launch of the official application, it is more than likely that this type of application will stop working, Philips already takes care of it. As is usual in these types of applications that require the purchase of a physical product, the Hue Sync application will be available for download free of charge.

Philips has made this announcement in the framework of the CES that is being held these days in Las Vegas, along with the announcement of the Hue 3.0 application for devices managed by iOS, an application that will hit the market in the second quarter of the year. This new version of the application offers us many more options than it currently offers, it has a new user interface and much more intuitive controls. Philips has managed to gain an important niche in the market with Hue bulbs despite being one of the most expensive solutions that we can currently find on the market.
