Prevent the calendar application from notifying us of holidays and birthdays

In a native way, and without us having to make any adjustments, both iOS and macOS are responsible for creating a reminder automatically, as long as we know the date of birth of our friends and family, in which He promptly informs us of his birthday.

If we have imported our agenda from Facebook, and we have a large number of "friends", to call it in some way, it may be that the agenda of our device is ringing every day to remind us that today is Juan, Pepito and Menganito's birthday. Fortunately, within the calendar options, we can prevent these notifications from jumping on a daily basis.

Although to avoid missing an important appointment, the best thing we can do is start deleting contacts from the agenda, of people with whom we barely have a relationship, or directly delete your date of birth, otherwise we want to lose your contact information.

But besides, macOS, too informs us of the different holidays both regionally and nationally, through another calendar that is created automatically on our computer, so that we can always know when a local or national holiday is approaching without having to consult a lifelong calendar.

But if you want to minimize the number of notifications that are generated in your agenda, the best option is prevent these from being displayed on our calendar and for this, we will carry out the following steps.

  • Once we have opened the calendar, we go until Preferences of the application.
  • Within the general tab, we must uncheck the options:
    • Show birthday calendar
    • Show holiday calendar
  • Once we have unchecked both calendars, these dwill no longer be displayed on our calendar, so we will stop receiving the corresponding notifications once and for all.
