Printopia of Ecamm allows you to print from any device with iOS to any printer connected to your Mac. Some time ago Apple promised with the introduction of iOS 4.2 that iOS devices could print to any printer connected to a Mac But that ultimately resulted in only a few Airprint-compatible printers, which greatly limited the scope of this functionality.
But that's what Printopia came for, an application that does much more than simply print on paper, thanks above all to virtual printers that allow you send documents to folders and applications from your Mac.
By default, Printopia creates two virtual printers. The first is Send to a Mac which when selected as the default destination "printer" on your iOS device, save any image or document in a folder called Printopia inside the Documents folder. The second, Send to Dropbox on Mac which performs the same function but saves the files in a similar folder inside your Dropbox folder, where of course they are synced with all your other devices.
You can create "Send to Mac" as many additional virtual printers as you want for many other tasks such as saving screen prints or whatever we can think of. We also have the possibility of send files directly to applications With what for example a screenshot on your iPad you can send it to your Mac to open Lightroom and edit the image, creating another virtual printer with the name "Send to Lightroom", we can even send articles to our Kindle.
