Print your files directly from the desktop or Finder to save time

On many occasions, especially when we are in a hurry to get to a place or have a report prepared or any other type of job, we have to print "in a hurry" the files related to that job and that means having to run the application associated with the file, open it and search among the menu options, that of printing. This means that depending on the load of the equipment it takes more or less to open the application and the different files.

Actually this whole process is not entirely necessary, as printing can be done from the Finder in OS X. This often overlooked functionality it's incredibly productive and speeds up the process of printing the document or image in question by avoiding having to open any applications. Instead, we simply have to locate the document and start printing directly from there.

First of all and although it seems obvious, we will need a printer connected to the Mac (virtual or physical) and I say this, because it will be worth so much for printing paper files as for printing PDF. The connection method can be both a printer connected by USB, as a network, wireless, Airprint ...

  1. The process to follow from the desktop or any Finder window is to locate the files or the corresponding image and select them.
  2. Now we will open the "File" menu from the Finder and mark the option to print.
  3. We will configure the printing options or if, on the contrary, we want the default ones, we will print immediately.

Another even faster way to do it is to use a keyboard shortcut on on the system. With the file / s selected we will proceed to press CMD + P to open the preview and the printer utilities, we will simply press enter to print. With this we will already have two ways to carry out the same step and save time compared to the "traditional" method.
