Problems porting apps from iPad to Mac annoys developers

Project Catalyst

When Apple introduced the new version of macOS, Catalina, a version that we can now download on our compatible devices, one of the functions that most caught the attention of developers was Catalyst, a series of tools that allowed this community port your iPad applications to macOS quickly and easily.

However, it seems that all that glitters is not gold. As we can read in Bloomberg, many are the developers who claim that Catalyst is still very green and many of them have given up using it entirely, at least for now and while Apple polishes its operation.

Project Catalyst

Catalyst is still in its infancy. It will not be until 2021 when developers will be able to create applications at once, applications that can be used on both a Mac and an iPhone and iPad through a unified app store.

But as often happens in the first steps of a service, this function is still a long way from delivering what Apple promises, at least for many developers. In addition, in the end the user is always the most affected since it is likely that they will have to pay again to download the Mac version, at least until Catalyst works correctly.

The developers claim that They have had to work a lot to make the migration of their applications from iPad to macOS easy and seeing how now it doesn't work is really frustrating. They also complain about a lack of documentation, making it even more difficult for developers unfamiliar with building applications for macOS.

Currently in the Mac App Store we have at our disposal very few applications created through Catalyst, although it is expected that many more will do so as the weeks go by. If you were expecting a flood of iOS applications to install on your Mac, for now you will have to wait, at least until the developers have finished familiarizing themselves with the tool that Apple has made available to them.
