RAW 6.01 compatibility update

raw-macbook

One of the updates that usually arrives every month or month and a half to OS X users is RAW compatibility for digital cameras and this time we are facing the new version 6.01. By now it is certain that all of you know what the RAW format means and the possibilities that this image format offers us, but for those who still do not know what it means, we can summarize it a bit: it is a format that stores more information about our image than the 'standard' JPEG format, something that allows the user to obtain better results when editing is required in Apple applications such as Aperture or iPhoto.

And now that we know more or less what the RAW format is, we can say that OS X Yosemite is system-level compatible with the RAW formats of many digital cameras, but every so often Apple adds a few more to its list through updates, in this case to:

  • Canon EOS 7D Mark II
  • Fujifilm X30
  • Nikon D750
  • Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX100

The new version adds to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11 the compatibility with RAW images of these digital cameras, if you want to see the rest of compatible cameras you can access it directly from the website of Apple. Sometimes Apple adds this update along with the new version of iTunes or OS X Server, this time it seems that support for more cameras comes alone.

If you did not skip the update automatically, you can access it directly from the menu > Software Update.

I find it excellent that they give this type of tutoring in Spanish for those of us who enter the world of Mac.
