How to remove apps from the Dock in macOS Sierra

macos-sierra

Every time Apple launches a new version of OS X, now called macOS, it is best to perform a clean installation on our Mac, that is, formatting the hard drive and installing from scratch through a USB. If we want our Mac to work perfectly and without any problems, beyond those that the operating system may bring, it is not convenient to update our Mac to the latest version since the problems we have in it, we will drag them into this facility and we will continue to suffer them. The problem arises when after a long time we have managed to configure our Mac to our liking and with the applications we use the most.

If we have not made many changes to the system, it is likely that it is not difficult for us to remember which configuration we are using on the Mac, so this problem is a lesser evil. The problem can come when we use many applications, applications that due to their doubtful origin (I think it is perfectly understood) we have to search, download and install again, a process that takes us a long time, time that in many cases we cannot lose. But if we have enough time, we could also consider it a lesser evil. I evidently take for granted that all your files are safe in a backup.

Once the macOS installation has finished, we are going to review the dock, a dock that natively comes with a large number of applications, many of which we will not use.

  • To eliminate the applications that we have in the dock, we just have to place the mouse over them and press the right button.
  • Now we head up to Options and click on Remove from Dock and the application will disappear from the Dock leaving more space for us to add more applications than we are really going to use.
