Eliminate metadata from your photos with EXIFPurge

When it comes to sharing the photographs of our trips or if we are fond of photography and want to share the results, we do not like that the recipients can know what lens we have used, the camera model, the diaphragm, the location, if we have used flash … Regardless of the camera we use, when taking a photograph, the file collects all the information from the camera and how it has been captured, to later be able to analyze the results in a simple way and to be able to correct for future shots the exposure, the diaphragm, the speed ... Deleting all this data is very simple before sharing with the EXIFPurge application.

All the data that the camera collects when we take a capture is called EXIF metadata, data that photographers usually save as gold on a cloth. Before starting to share our favorite photos, we must make use of the application EXIFPurge, a free application available on the Mac App Store and that is responsible for eliminating any trace of the metadata registered when a capture has been made. Unlike other applications, EXIFPurge does not show us the EXIF information of the photos, it simply takes care of deleting them.

The operation could not be easier, since we only have to open the application and drag all the photos from which we want to remove the EXIF data and click on the Purge EXIF info button. If we don't want the photos to be overwritten by deleting the original data, we can set a different directory to store the new files without the metadata.

While it is true that this application has not been updated for several years, it is compatible with macOS High Sierra without any problem. Requires at least macOS 10.6 or later and a 64-bit processor. And as I have commented above, it is available for download completely free of charge through the following link.
