How to resize Dock icons

Every time the guys from Cupertino release a new version of macOS, it is always advisable to perform a clean installation, from scratch, so that we do not drag performance problems into the new macOS version. As the months go by, it is more than likely that our Dock has a large number of applications, applications that on some occasions we may not have used practically at any time, but we have always had them there just in case, the resorted just in case . When the number of applications in the Dock is very high, it is likely that we need to reduce the size of the icons that are displayed in the Dock so that when placing the mouse over it, keep filling the entire screen without leaving it.

Fortunately the customization possibilities of the macOS Dock are very great. We can change its position so that instead of being at the bottom, if it is on the right or left side of the screen. We can also configure it so that it is automatically hidden and only appears when we place the mouse over the part where it should be (bottom, right or left). But it also allows us to change the size of the icons that are displayed on it.

Change the size of the Dock icons

  • First we go to the System Preferences.
  • Next, we click on Dock, the third icon that is at the top of the menu.
  • In the next window we go to Size, the first option that appears.
  • To change the size of the Dock icons we just have to move the indicator to the right, if we want to make them smaller, or to the left if we want to make them bigger.

As we move the indicator, we can see the result directly in the Dock, so that we will quickly be able to know which is the measure that best suits our needs.
