Ridge Stand Pro Plus, a larger stand for all Mac models

It has been just over two years since this company started its journey on the well-known crowdfunding website Kickstarter and today we are facing a company that is fully established thanks to its flagship product, the Rige Stand. The company reached the $ 25.000 they needed to manufacture their first Rige Stand in just under 3 days, the stand was suitable for MacBook Air, iPad, iPhone and we could use it with other devices. In the case of the MacBook Pro that are somewhat thicker, we had a bit of a tight fit where the equipment was held, in addition the size of the stand did not allow us to touch our Mac too much because it could fall ... The company grows larger with the passage of time and Now there are three stand ranges available for all computers, both Macs, iPhones and iPads.

This is a stand that we already analyzed on its launch day even before it went on the market we were really impressed by the overall quality of it, but above all because of the material with which it is made -it is aluminum- and the care in the details that have been put into the company, such as the separating rubber where the charging cables are located so that they do not get tangled, the cover itself to transport it anywhere or even the silicone that is now added in the larger model so that it is attached to the table.

Rige Stand already has three models available in its product range to meet the needs of users and measures are as follows:

  • Ridge Stand Mini: 97 x 34 x 41mm, weighs about 70g and is clearly designed for iPhones or other current devices
  • Ridge Stand Plus: 131 x 117 x 28mm, weighs about 260g and it is capable of supporting well up to 1,5kg of weight. This is great for iPad or even MacBook Air, MacBook 12 ″
  • Ridge Stand Pro Plus: 181 x 132 x 32mm, weighs 440g and supports up to 2,5kg of weight. In this case we have a stand for the rest of the MacBook

The difference between the Plus and Pro Plus models is quite prominent both in size and in the fit where we will place the equipment slightly less than 1,5cm in the case of the Plus and 1,9cm in the case of the Pro Plus. In this sense, the Pro Plus model, being larger in general, ensures a perfect balance on the Mac and also adds a remarkable difference in the base of the stand, a kind of silicone that covers the entire stand and allows adherence to the table. without leaving any mark on it when we remove the stand, but it transmits a lot of security. In this case the best solution for Macs from my point of view is the new Pro Plus model, although it is true that the previous model Rige Stand Plus is also capable of holding our 12 ″ MacBook or MacBook Air well, in the Pro we will have more security due to its larger size in general.

Editor's opinion

We start with the negative point because you have to say something, in this case is that again it is a Kickstarter project and it is there where you have to buy or rather pre-buy the stand, obviously they have already reached the goal required for its manufacture and it is certain that it will reach all those who support the project, but it would be great if they stopped aside this crowdfunding platform that over time has lost credibility among users ...

But in general lines this is a highly recommended product both for design, quality of materials and above all for the protection offered by having our Mac, iPad or iPhone "up". Having the MacBook on a stand is always synonymous with protection against possible falling liquids on the equipment, in addition to allowing the user to adopt a better position in the chair to work with the Mac, that is, a keyboard on the table is essential. for users who have to write a lot.

In all cases the hinges that join the parts of these Rigde Stands are totally resistant to weight while being moldable, so we will not have problems when storing the stand for transport and when we place it on the table it will show enough force so that the weight of the equipment itself does not bend it or move it when we touch it. A differential detail that I already commented above with the Pro Plus model is to have the base with the silicone that adheres to any non-rough surface, offering total confidence before possible movements or displacement of the equipment.

    Hello Jordi;

    Very good review of this product, I'll see if this support for my 13 ″ Macbook Pro is worth it.

    I have a question because you say that KickStarter «is a crowdfunding platform that over time has lost credibility among users ...», I have been a user of this platform for a long time, I have participated in 10 projects and I am very happy with the results , apart from the fact that some projects take forever ...

    Thank you.

      Hello Xabier,

      The truth is that I have had some bad experience on Kickstarter and I know users who have been the same. This does not mean that it is not reliable at all, simply that Ridge Stand is already a well-established product in the market, they have their own website and so on, so they could launch the product directly without going through crowdfunding. It reminds me of what Pebble did in its day, an established company using this method to sell its products.

      This Ridge Stand Pro Plus, if it works for the 13 ″ MacBook Pro Thank you for your comment!
