Developer Rogue Amoeba today announced an update to its popular Mac and Windows application, Airfoil 5, an application that allows users to stream audio from your Macs or PCs to your audio systems. This new version includes a completely renewed interface with new graphics compatible with the latest Retina Mac models and many improvements regarding the design itself of the application, among which we can see, for example, an improvement in the volume sliders, which are now longer within the main window.
In addition to the interface, other aspects have also been taken care of, such as new features added, among which are now includes support for the Bluetooth protocol and the revamped Airfoil Satellite app for iOS, Windows and Mac devices. With the addition of Bluetooth to the app, Airfoil 5 is capable of sending audio to compatible devices, including speakers and headphones, so it now goes beyond just sending it to the Apple TV, AirPort Express, or iOS and Mac devices.
All of this means that users can now send music to any type of Bluetooth speaker. For example, if we use a streaming app like Spotify, When using Airfoil 5 we can send the boring to a speaker or several Bluetooth at the same time while the speakers of our Mac will only reproduce the sounds of the system.
It is even capable of synchronizing different speakers in groups so that everything is reproduced at the same time in perfect harmony, that is, if we have several speakers scattered around the house, we can create a group that includes all of them (or whatever we want), assign a name and play music at the same time.
On the other hand the use of Airfoil Satellite On an iOS device, for example, it allows remote control with compatible applications such as Spotify, being possible to adjust the volume, skip audio tracks, pause and much more.
Airfoil 5 can be downloaded from the Rogue Amoeba website for a price of $ 29 although there is the possibility of download a free trial version before you buy it.
