While it is true that we can record on optical media from our Mac without resorting to external applications, the reality is that when we want to go a little further than recording images, we will have no other option than to resort to an external application. With the new version of Toast The guys at Roxio have wanted to break away from recording more and move towards being a multimedia hub that offers many more functions. For example AudioAssistant allows importing from multiple formats (LPs, tapes, microphone and even streaming) directly to iTunes, something that all those who want to make their analogue collection digital will be very grateful.
The other important novelty at the software level is MyDVD, which allows you to convert home videos into professional-looking videos, something that we can already enjoy with iMovie on the Mac but with more resources and power than the Apple app. It also has AVCHD support.
Finally, we must highlight the inclusion of a package called ToastPro which includes the following utility applications: Corel AfterShot 2, FaceFilter 3 Standard, HDR Express 3, FotoMagico 4.5 RE, iZotope Music & Speech Cleaner and BD Plug-in for Toast 14. So basically it is a bundle of apps that accompany the former recording suite.
As for prices, they are obviously not very cheap: U.S. dollar 99,99 the basic version and $ 149,99 for the Pro, which seeing everything it brings is quite worth it.
