Safari offers support for favicons with macOS Mojave

As the days go by, and we try to remember the most important news that will come from the next version of macOS, dubbed Mojave, we can see how, despite Tim Cook's statement, «macOS Mojave will be a great change" the changes are really few, at least in terms of functional level.

Previously, we have already informed you of some of the features Apple has removed, at least in the first beta of macOS Mojave, features like Back to my Mac y eliminate the possibility of adding our Facebook and Twitter accounts when sharing content. Small changes, to which we now have to add the support for web page favicons in Safari.

The latest version of Apple's browser on Mac, Safari, offers us support for favicons, those icons that represent each of the websites that we visit and that as a general rule, are shown next to the marker as well as on the right side of the address. Starting with the next version of macOS Mojave, Safari will show us the favicons in all the tabs that we have open in the browser, which allows us to more quickly identify the tab we are looking for.

This function may be somewhat anecdotal for many users, but if you are used to using Firefox or Chrome, where the Favicon have been shown for a few years, the implementation in Safari was already playing. Microsoft was the first browser that implemented support for favicons and since then, most of the web pages that we visit regularly offer us this small icon with which we can quickly identify the tabs that we have open.

Until now, the only way to enjoy favicons in Safari, it was through the application faviconographer, an application that will have to continue to be used by all users who will not be able to update to macOS Mojave, among which we find all the Macs launched on the market before 2012.
