Quickly send files without opening Mail on macOS

We have said it many times, doing things on Mac computers with the macOS system is very simple and when we know perfectly the workflows that Apple's software engineers have devised, everything is simple. In this article I am going to tell you how to quickly send a file without first opening the Mail application.

It is clear that in order to do what I am going to show you, in System Preferences> Internet Accounts, you must have entered your email accounts so that Email works perfectly, since otherwise you can only send emails from the iCloud account.

The fact is that macOS in what has to do with the preview of Lois files is very different from what we can find in other systems and when we select, for example, a PDF document on the Mac desktop, just by pressing the space bar of the roof of the computer shows us a preview of the file through which we can even turn the pages of said documents to see their content.

However, if we look closely at the preview window we will realize that there are more actions available. At the top we find a button with the default application with which we are proposed to open that file. By clicking on this button, the system launches the application in question and opens the file.

However, if what we want is to perform other actions, including sending said file by Mail, we just have to press the square button with the outgoing arrow in the upper right part of the window so that Preview shows us a list with the options that we can execute with the file. In this case, when clicking on Mail the system takes the file, opens the Mail application automatically, Attach it and leave everything ready for us to put the destination email and that matter.

It is a very simple process that in case you have to send many files individually by Mail it is much easier than running the normal workflow of Open the Mail application, find the file in question and drag it to the Mail window and then write the destination address and subject.
