Services and wearables the protagonists of the financial results of the 2nd fiscal quarter of Apple

Financial results

While iPhones services revenue drop, wearables, iPads and Macs achieve important figures to add amounts that make this second quarter of Apple's fiscal year the third best fiscal second quarter in history of the company. The Cupertino guys have posted quarterly sales of $ 58.000 billion, down 5 percent over the same period last year.

We can say in summary that it is a good quarter for Apple and that in any case one of the factors that demonstrate this is the rise in the company's shares as soon as these financial results for the quarter are published. These figures also add a quarterly net profit of $ 2,46 per share, a decrease of 10 percent. Sixty-one percent of quarterly sales have been made by Apple outside the US, and the push from services and wearables keeps the firm really strong in an increasingly saturated market.

Apple no longer provides figures for the products sold but does add the revenue earned by each of the company's divisions. in this case we can see how despite not being the figures expected of the company's star product, iPhones continue to be the top earners and secondly, quite unmarked from the rest, we already come across services:

  • iPhone: $ 31.050 billion
  • Services: $ 11.450 billion
  • Mac: $ 5.500 billion
  • Wearables: $ 5.100 billion
  • iPad: $ 4.870 billion

All the statements by Tim Cook about these results are clear:

Our results for the March quarter show the strength of our installed base of more than 1.400 billion active devices, setting a historical record in services, and a strong boost in our category of wearables, home and accessories, which reached a new record in the quarter of March. We've had the strongest iPad growth in the last six years, and we're excited about our portfolio of innovative hardware, software and services in the works. We look forward to sharing more details with developers and customers at Apple's 30th Annual Developer Conference in June.
