Elisabeth Moss has an Emmy Award and an Actors Guild Award for her power, will direct the third and fourth episode while Diana Reid (The Handmaid's Tale) has been nominated for an Emmy, will direct the last 4 episodes of this series. Elisabeth Moss, in addition to starring in the series and directing two episodes, also serves as an executive producer.

Shining Girl is based on the same name written by Lauren Beukes, who is also serving in executive production alongside Elisabeth Moss. This novel was published in 2013 and follows the story of Kyrby (Elisabeth Moss) who, after surviving a brutal attack, is in charge of chasing him while she discovers that the reality that surrounds her is unstable, changing.

Wagner Moura (Narcos) plays a character named Dan, a veteran journalist who follows the story of a copycat attacker on the loose. Jamie Bell will play the role of Harper, described as a mysterious loner who is connected to Kirby in some way.
