Shortcuts or time management by applications are passed to macOS 10.15

Siri on macOS

In the last week we have been learning almost daily the news from Apple, planned for macOS 10.15. In the last hours we know new iOS functions that will be passed to macOS, in the version that will be announced in the developer conference to be held at the beginning of June.

Among them, we can see shortcuts to functions from aapplications from Siri. Something similar to the function Shortcuts of iOS. Another novelty that will surely be presented at the WWDC will be the function Screen Time. With it we will know how much time we spend on the applications and limit the use where appropriate.

We were saying that the next version of macOS should bring a lot of new features after the performance and stability improvements of macOS High Sierra and macOS Mojave. One of these novelties would be shortcuts to Siri. It is not clear if Apple is considering a more or less exact implementation of Shortcuts of iOS or an improvement of Siri that allows more application functions with voice commands.

Today macOS has a function programming and automation application, automator. Therefore, the decision that Apple wants to take, on the current Automator and the novelty of Siri shortcuts, is a mystery. Developers will be another sector to benefit from the inclusion of Siri shortcuts. In principle, from the WWDC will have a new SDK to adapt their applications and that these can be handled to a greater or lesser extent, from Siri on macOS.

The other relevant feature that we know about today and will be implemented in macOS 10.15 will be Screen Time. It is designed to know what time we spend on a process or application, but it can also limit quotas, a function designed to regulate the time that the youngest members of the household spend in front of a certain application, social networks or games. At the same time, Apple wants to do easier ID management that are inside a Family, to make further adjustments from macOS.

We will see all these novelties in the WWDC starting June 3. About 15 days before Apple summons the exact date of the keynote where we will see these and many other news.
