We continue with the most outstanding news in the recently released version of macOS Catalina, they are a good handful of news but you have to see them little by little. In this case we focus on the new tool called Sidecar. What this function allows us directly is, as we mentioned in the headline of this article, is to use the iPad as a second screen.
With Sidecar we can look at one app while using another or check how a job looks in the presentation mode of the iPad while we are editing it on the Mac. It is undoubtedly a function that many users were waiting for the new macOS Catalina.
Another function is to mirrored desktop, which allows us to see the same content on two different screens and represent it for more people to see it, we can use the Apple Pencil on iPad as a graphics tablet we can also use the same iPad gestures to copy text, cut or paste, enjoy the compatibility of the Touch Bar in supported apps from the iPad (compatible applications appear at the bottom of the iPad) even if we do not have Touch Bar or enjoy the comfort of the side bar to activate shortcuts in professional apps.
In short, a good handful of options available that Sidecar offers us even without using a cable to connect both devices, we can be about 10 meters away from the Mac and have the iPad connected without any problem. Obviously developers also have facilities to add Sidecar in their apps and they do not have to do anything, the new tool works automatically.
The minimum requirements necessary to use this function are to have installed iPadOS 13 and macOS Catalina, an iMac from 2015 onwards including the new Pro, a MacBook from 2016, MacBook Air from 2018 or a Mac mini from 2018 onwards. As for the iPad then that have iPadOS 13 installed as we say.
We continue with the news of macOS Catalina!
