Since Apple announced the second generation of AirPlay technology, AirPlay 2, the Cupertino-based company has taken more than a year to offer this technology to the general public, a delay that the company has not announced due to, but what it does not put the company's engineers in a very good place.

Shortly after the launch of AirPlay 2, at WWDC 2017, several manufacturers began to announce which models would be compatible with this second generation. Sonos was one of them. AirPlay 2 has been available on the iPhone since the release of iOS version 11.3 and for a few days on macOS.

The update of Sonos speakers to be compatible with AirPlay 2 is now available for all compatible models, an update that is gradually reaching all users who have any of the compatible models. AirPlay 2 is compatible with the latest Sonos devices: Sonos Beam, Sonos One, Playbase and second-generation Play: 5 speakers. Sonos customers can make AirPlay 2 work with older speaker models by grouping them with one of the compatible speakers.

To install this update, we just have to open the application and check if we have a new version of the firmware for our Sonos device available.
