Sonos will remove support from its older speakers

As with the rest of the firms, the Sonos company announces that it will stop offering support to its older devices and in this case it is several models. The firm that is currently in full dispute over a patent issue with Google, continues to make its way despite everything and this time there are several models that will no longer have official support. This obviously does not mean that the devices stop working correctly or that an update is released for them in an emergency, but in principle they will go to the list of devices that are not updated.

The firm officially announces that first ZonePlayer, Connect and Connect: Amp (sold between 2006 and 2015), first generation Play: 5 (launched 2009), CR200 (launched 2009) and Bridge (launched 2007) They will stop receiving official support next May, so it is possible that the latest updates will arrive these months before they stop supporting. Possibly more than one of you will not know any of these models but Sonos has a long experience in speakers and it is now when the AirPlay 2 compatibility function was recently added that they have taken on much more name, but in reality it is a veteran brand in sound.

Today, the Sonos experience is built on an interconnected ecosystem that provides access to more than 100 music services, voice assistants, and control options (such as Apple's AirPlay 2). You may not be able to access some services and features on your Sonos system if you do not receive further software updates, as our partners continue to develop their own technology.

This decision to put aside this equipment is something that the owners of these devices are not liking but it is something that usually happens frequently in the technology sector. Brands make these cuts for many reasons and it is evident that in most cases they are not welcomed by users who see how they will stop offering support to a team that still works and also works very well. This is something similar to what happens to us with Macs and OS updates. If you want you can read the full statement here.
