In a conversation on Github between several developers and Spotify project manager Samuel Erdtman, the latter has confirmed that the Swedish music streaming service has no intention of developing an application compatible with the fourth generation Apple TV at least for now. . In the thread started with the request for the Spotify SDK for tvOS, Erdtman quickly replied stating that currently the Spotify app for the Apple TV is not on their priority list. Although it is not an official statement from the company, the information provided by Erdtman gives us a hint of the future intentions of the company with the tvOS ecosystem.
Although Spotify and Apple TV users would be delighted to be able to enjoy the Swedish music streaming service, it seems that relations between the two companies are not at their best. Relations were muddied last June when Apple and Spotify fought over Apple's remaining 30% of all subscriptions made through the app. which forces Spotify to offer a price 3 euros more expensive if the user hires it through Apple. At least Spotify users can continue to AirPlay from their device to Apple TV to listen to their music through the TV connected to a stereo.
But Spotify isn't the only big company to get on with Apple and its Apple TV. Amazon also doesn't want to release its Amazon Prime Video app for Apple TV until the Cupertino-based company does not offer acceptable trade terms.
