TeamViewer is a very good remote management program for Windows and Mac that has a technology based on a server that centralizes the connections (I suppose) and avoids having to map the router to manage to and from anywhere while you have a network connection.
It allows the transfer of files from one computer to another and the view-only mode to avoid disturbing the remote. It does not include voice between the interlocutors as Apple Remote Desktop would do via apple iChat but we can combine the program with iChat or Skype of course even if the bandwidth suffers a bit.
We have tried to leave a virtualized Windows within a Linux in a network of a remote office connected in a standard way by ADSL and I have connected with this virtual machine without any problems from my Mac through a public wi-fi connection where they only let use port 80 among other standards. Very good to replace the utility «Back to my mac» free of charge for individuals.
PS: Yesterday I became a .mac for this feature and today I find this wonderful software. Cloth!
