New MacBook Air batteries can be replaced without changing the case

MacBook Air

As you probably already know, one of the surprises that Apple surprised us with in its Keynote on October 30, was the new and completely renewed MacBook Air, on which we already talked to you here. It is a fantastic team, both on the outside and on the inside, and today we have seen a most interesting detail.

And it is that, if we remember, since 2012 in the MacBook Air, in the event that you need to change the battery of your computer for any reason, there were problems, since it was glued to the back cover, being necessary replace the entire chassis of the computer, including the keyboard and trackpad.

However, all this that we were telling you luckily no longer necessary with the new MacBook Air 2018, since as they have shown us since MacRumors, in new internal Apple documents for store members, it is clarified that the process to follow to replace the battery is no longer so complex, although you should bear in mind that you won't be able to change this piece on your own either, since some specialized tools are necessary for this.

The process in question roughly consists of lift the rear, change the battery, then apply pressure with the same tool that they use to change the screen on the iPhone.

In addition, this is not the only good news related to this MacBook Air, and it is that apparently, the same as the battery can be replaced without touching anything else, it seems that the trackpad can also be, although what has been the keyboard is not entirely clear if it will finally be possible, or if in these cases it will be necessary to make the complete change. We also do not know if, with this new change, Apple plans to lower the price of the change, although it would be the most logical.
