The best tips to master photography with your iPhone (I)

Simply press the self-timer icon and then choose between a 3-second or 10-second timer. Press the shutter button and wait for the countdown to finish (the iPhone's camera flash will blink as the counter decreases).

Automatic focus and exposure lock

AE / AF lock allows you to lock in custom camera settings in order to maintain your chosen exposure and sharpness. To set AE / AF Lock, all you have to do is press and hold your preferred focus area until the focus squares blink. The AE / AF Lock icon will appear at the top of the screen. To deactivate AE / AF Lock, touch elsewhere on the screen.

To crop your images, tap Edit in the upper right corner of the photo you're viewing from the Photos app. Select the crop icon at the bottom and drag the corners cropping the image. Once cropped, you can adjust it by simply moving it within the cropped area with your finger. To undo the changes, click Reset.

Favorite photos

By marking the images you like the most as Favorites, you can easily and automatically save them in an album of Favorite. To add a photo to Favorites, press the heart-shaped symbol that you will see at the bottom of the photo. Now when you go to the albums, you will see that there is one called Favorites that includes all the photos that you have selected. You can delete images from your favorites album just by pressing the heart again.

Delete deleted photos to save space

When you delete the photos you don't want, they are kept in a folder called "Recent Deletions" for 30 days in case you want to recover them. If you need space on your iPhone, you can permanently delete all those photos. Press "Select" in the upper right corner and make a mass selection. Press "Delete" in the lower left corner and confirm the action.

Compare edited photos with the original

Did you know that you can compare the photograph you are editing at that moment with the original photograph? While you are still in the process of editing your photo, simply press and hold your finger on the edited image. This will momentarily revert the image to the raw version, with an "original" indication at the top to differentiate the two.
