It is a possibility that was being considered. Apparently Apple would be in talks with the UK cable operator BT to use the Apple TV 4K as a decoder. These contacts are in an early stage and therefore not many details are known.
What both companies want is the using Apple TV 4k as an all-in-one. All parties win: BT offering a quality product to its customers with Apple TV 4k, Apple to advertise its services among them the future streaming service, and users because they have their grill in a single device.
The information can be found in the electronic version of The Telegraph. BT's cable service will create specific applications to view the content of the platform through the Apple device. It is not the first time that both companies sit down to discuss issues together. To this day, the operator offers Apple TV with a monthly payment as a rental of the device, but without giving specific support to the operator's channels.
Until now, neither Apple nor BT have confirmed anything about it. It is not the first agreement related to Apple TV and a content developer. At WWDC 2018, Apple announced an agreement with the Swiss Salt operator. Other forays in this regard have been carried out between Apple and Canal + in France and Charter Spectrum.
At least in an initial phase, operators are not planning to replace all their decoders with Apple's Apple TV. Enjoying this Apple entertainment box offers the possibility of accessing much more content, but logically the operators will pass part of this cost to their customers. Therefore, there will be customers who opt for the Apple TV services, while others will choose a traditional decoder. We will see how these agreements progress, which will allow to obtain many synergies for operators and Apple.
The Movistar app is not on Apple TV, right? It does not appear in the AppStore
