ChromeBook gains ground versus MacBook and iPad in education

The Google Chromebook little by little has been displacing Apple as the first option inside classrooms at the K-12 market, a name used in America, Canada, Turkey, Australia ... to designate the primary and secondary education cycles.

According to sales reports, the Chromebook has already passed 51 percent of the total well above the previous 40 percent, based on figures from the third quarter of 2015.

Apple's sales of both iPads and all other Macs sold by the company have seen its sales drop 24 percent in North American colleges and universities. According to Mike Fisher, associate director at an education technology consultancy called Futuresource Consulting, this clearly indicates that schools want adjust the budget to the maximum in equipment to adapt the needs of the students to the actual use that will be given to said equipment and thus not spend more than is purely necessary.

"This is a tidal wave: Chrome is the clear leader in the US market now," Fisher said.

The key to this success by Google in the education sector is that the price is cheaper on the Chromebook, with a starting price between $ 200 and $ 300, this coupled with an easy-to-use operating system and also cheaper maintenance, makes it the clear winner.

Yet Apple remains a major rival in educational markets. Keep in mind that Apple has already sold more than 15 million iPads to educational institutions around the world.

In any case, and although the figures begin to give Google an advantage, the market remains fragmented and while some directors and district officials prefer ChromeBook as their first choice others opt for Apple, since it has been the choice for four years giving very good results.

Well, Chromebook includes various brands. It started with Samsung but now they already make chromebooks, Toshiba, HP, Acer, Asus ... and other lesser known brands.
While Apple is a single manufacturer.
In fact, a Chromebook is any computer that includes Chrome OS so it is not surprising that there are some very cheap.

Undoubtedly the aesthetics of the MacBook is too cute, but it's crap, it doesn't have a USB port, the battery lasts less and is also much less powerful… what are you doing Apple !?

Certainly, a Chromebook Pixel has a very similar aesthetic to that of a MacBook Air (and almost the same price).
But in terms of power they are not comparable. Chromebooks are machines that require a permanent connection to the Internet, without it they are hardly anything.
In the US and in the educational environment that is less of a problem since there the connectivity is excellent.
However, a Macbook is a standalone machine, with a power that is unmatched by that of a Chromebook.
Without going any further, try to modify a photo with a Chromebook with your pixlr and compare what you do with what you can do with even the simplest mac application, such as Graphicconverter.
Well no, Chromebook and Mac Os X are not comparable in an environment outside of education.

And yes, MacBook Air does have USB, of course USB-c to keep up to date and if you need more connectivity, an external box gives you everything you need.
