The details of the new 3 "Asus Zenbook 12,5 and its" reasonable resemblance "to the 12" MacBook

The first thing I would like to say is that it is a really nice team and is that the identical design or how I notice in the title of this article "Reasonable resemblance" to Apple's 12 ″ MacBook make it one of the most beautiful equipment on the market. Having clarified this and confirming the more than evident similarity in the design, we are going to see some of the details of this recently presented Asus Zenbook 3.

For those who do not know, the models of the Asus Zenbook range have always been characterized by being thin equipment and with a personal design of the brand, if it is true that models such as the Asus UX21 looked like the Macbook Air but in this new model we can say that they have not continued with their product line ande have launched directly to copy the light and ultrathin Apple MacBook.

Specifications

What they have improved on the Apple MacBook that should be noted has been on the market for more than a year, is that they have managed to add a maximum thickness of only 11.9 millimeters and a weight of 910 grams, Intel core i5 and Intel Core i7 processors. In addition to this, there are different versions of SSD storage, which range from 256 GB, through 500 GB and ending in 1 TB.

About the RAM of the computer we can say that it has two versions available, the one with barely 4GB of RAM, which I think is quite scarce today and the more powerful version that includes 16 GB. We do not understand the decision not to place at least a base version with 8 GB of RAM and it is that in these computers it is impossible to expand the memory over time, so it seems to us a real problem.

On the screen of this team we can say that at first glance it has little frame (like the MacBook) and that it comes with a Gorilla Glass 4 glass that will protect its 12,5-inch screen.

Fingerprint sensor

Asus anticipates rumors about unlocking the computer and add a fingerprint sensor to your trackpad. This is something interesting for the user and personally I think that the new MacBook Pro can add this option to log in, but the location in the case of this Asus does not seem the best to me and in the case of Apple if it does add it I doubt it is on the trackpad. In this Asus the option of the footprint will increase the use of the function that is in Windows, Windows Hello.

Port

If in singular. This Asus is so similar to Apple's MacBook that it only has one port on the side. It certainly seems to us something to take into account since when they launched the new MacBook most of the media and users launched the attack from Apple, now it seems that this Zenbook 3 follows that path and will have to pull adapters.

But in this case there is a "but" in it that I want to influence, the autonomy offered by the Apple MacBook is really high and despite the fact that Asus assures that this Zenbook 3 lasts 9 hours without load, this will have to be seen with the processor i5 or i7 at full capacity. Thinking that only having a USB C port greatly limits the user's ability to charge while working with other connected peripherals, so this point for me is key in this new Asus. Ok, it has fast charging and we can charge half the battery in 40 minutes, but the limitation in this case of a single port is worse than in the case of the MacBook.

Price

It is obviously a good machine but its price range goes beyond what many expected. In this case, it must be clarified that the basic version of this laptop is U.S. dollar 999 with the configuration: Intel Core i5, 4 GB of RAM and an SSD is 256 GB. For those who want something more, they have the $ 1.999 version which offers us an Intel Core i7 processor with 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 1 TB of SSD disk. We can also reduce the SSD of the most powerful model to 500 GB and stay in priced at $ 1.499.

In my case I think that if I have to choose between an Asus with Windows and a MacBook, you all know the choice. But if it is true that having the i5 and i7 processors (in the absence of knowing if they are the Skylake series or not) I find it interesting for those users who need this power. In the presentation of this team last Tuesday the firm insisted on comparing itself too much to the MacBook and really the design is the same but the rest in my opinion has no possible comparison.

It will be very similar in aesthetics but the strong point of our MACs is their OS. Totally unsurpassed to date.

You forgot to mention that the port of the Asus Zenbook 3 is Thunderbolt 3, something that Apple could not include in its Macbook.
