The final version of Plex Cloud arrives, to play content from Dropbox and other platforms

La plex app, has been an excellent service for years to catalog your video or audio files and play them on any computer where you have internet access and the Plex application installed. And we're not just talking about a Mac, you can also enjoy your favorite songs or videos on iOS, Apple TV or a smart TV

La PlexCloud, is a value-added service that was offered to some users last fall. During this period the developers have polished all the fringes of the application, to launch it definitively today.

It has been an incredible journey these last few months, with the cloud team working across four continents to get finished for our public launch. Plex Cloud is the easiest way to get started with your own Plex server in seconds, and given the response we have seen (and the large number of people requesting to join our beta program), we are delighted to announce that all users from Pass Plex can advance this incredible service.

Access to PlexCloud requires to be registered in Plex Pass, which is the Premium service of Plex. The great novelty is the incorporation of external servers to our video library or discotheque. That is, until now we had to have a Mac that acted as a server, but it is now possible to access content hosted on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive. Our desire would be to be able to access content hosted on iCloud Drive, since more and more Apple users prefer the Apple service in the cloud, mainly due to its integration with the web version and access from it to the Pages, Numbers and Keynote applications.

We can subscribe to Plex Pass from €4.99 / month or if you prefer, subscribe annually or for life.

I suppose it will have its advantages, such as not investing in a NAS and if it breaks you don't have to fix it, but it also has its drawbacks of paying monthly unless you take your lifetime and forget, you also need cloud storage of several TB and pay annually, in my case I don't have a plex pass, I only have a plex and a nas with 4Tb expandable to 8, so with the strong investment of money in nas I forget about the pass and the space and I also watch the series away from home, Although seeing it offline I suppose it will let you download it to watch it away from home and not spend megabytes, it seems ridiculous to me because that's why I put it on the phone and it works the same, in short a matter of taste and what you want to spend, I keep thinking where you have to invest is in a good mobile data rate of 8 GB and up.
