This is the first AirPods feature that Tim Cook and his team introduced us this afternoon. A feature designed to help people with mild hearing problems. A new feature that uses computational audio and the AirPods Pro's built-in beamforming microphones to focus received audio on the person speaking in front of you.
You can also choose to decrease the amount of ambient noise what is happening around you. These two features together can block out surrounding noise and greatly enhance your conversation with the person in front of you in a very noisy environment.
Notifications
Siri has already been alerting you to new notifications for a while, and now it is bringing that functionality to all notifications with Announce Notifications. Now you can modify this feature so that it only announces your most important and time-sensitive notifications. You can even use Notifications to remind you of what to buy from the grocery store if you created some specific reminders at the grocery location in the Reminders app.
The feature can be tailored to only announce notifications from apps of your choice and you can turn on Do Not Disturb to turn them off completely. Apple also says that if you use the new feature Focus that separates your personal and work life, your notification preferences will be taken into account automatically.
Find my AirPods
The latest Apple software updates will also allow you to find your AirPods Pro o AirPods Max Lost with the Find application, as with the new AirTags. If you lose them, your AirPods will send their position via Bluetooth that can be detected by other Apple devices. You can then use the Find Me app to have them play a sound or use proximity view to know when you're close to finding them. The Find My app will also alert you now if you accidentally leave your AirPods behind.
Spatial Audio
Apple is also bringing spatial audio support to tvOS so you can experience surround sound with your AirPods Pro or AirPods Max in your living room without disturbing anyone else. Spatial audio support for AirPods is also coming to macOS for newer processor-based Macs M1. Spatial audio is also coming to Apple Music and the FaceTime app.
Obviously, in order to enjoy all these features, both the AirPods and the corresponding devices that broadcast the music you want to listen to must be updated. If you're Developer, you can now download the first betas. If you are not, you must wait until at least the month of July to be able to test the first public betas.
