OS X 10.11.1 First Public Beta Available Now

Apple today released the first beta of OS X 10.11.1 El Capitan to users of the public beta software just days after the release of the first beta version for developers and about a week and a half before OS X El Capitan launches to the public en masse on September 30.

The new beta version is available via the update tab software on the Mac App Store.

The first beta of OS X 10.11.1 has brought with it the support for Unicode 8, new emoji like the taco, the burrito, the cheese wedge, the hot dog, the middle finger or the unicorn head. These emoji are also included in iOS 9.1, which is also in testing.

Beyond these new emoji, no other noteworthy changes have been made, suggesting that OS X 10.11.1 is a minor update than will bring bug fixes and performance improvements. According to Apple's release notes, the beta version offers more stability, compatibility, and security improvements.
