The LastPass password manager restricts its use to a device in its free version

LastPass

For several years, using a password manager is the most common, especially among users who want to always have all their passwords at hand in a secure environment. One of the most popular within the Apple ecosystem is 1Password, but it is not the only one, with LastPass being an interesting alternative at least until next March.

LastPass has always been a excellent alternative to 1Password since it allows us to use it on different devices without having to pay a single cent. But, like all good things, it has an end. The company has announced that free use will be limited to a single device from March.

LastPass is available on all platformss: macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, so we can use it without problems from any device by synchronizing the data remotely (just like 1Password offers us).

Starting March 16, LastPass will begin restrict your free service to a single deviceTherefore, the data you record from your Mac, for example, will also have to be manually recorded on your iPhone, Android, or Windows PC. From March 16, the user will have to choose which is the active device to use the service.

As a free user, your first login from March 16 will establish your active device type. You will have three chances to change your active device type to explore which one is best for you. Keep in mind that all your devices are automatically synced, so you will never lose access to anything stored in your vault or get locked out of your account, regardless of whether you use your computer or mobile devices to access LastPass.

Furthermore, also restrict some support options as of May 17, restricting the use of email only to premium customers and to those who have a family account in this service. If you continue to use this password manager, you will only be able to go to the LastPass Support Center to find a solution to the problems you may encounter.

It seems a bit absurd to depend on third-party app when apple's icloud has a secure password manager available on all apple devices.
