The latest tvOS 11 beta shows references to an Apple TV with 4k support

AppleTV-4

Yesterday afternoon Spanish time, tomorrow in California, the guys from Cupertino launched a new batch of betas, betas for all operating systems and that were only intended for developers. A few hours after its launch, the developers have already got to work trying to find references or news. They have not been slow to publish their findings. In the latest tvOS 11 beta user Guilherme Rambo has discovered new J105a references, which would be the code name of the next Apple TV, which would be the fifth generation and which would finally offer support for 4k quality video.

The first news about a new Apple TV was published by Bloomberg in February, hints that Apple might soon launch a fifth-generation Apple TV with Ultra HD 4k support. Since the date in the different betas that the company has been launching, different references to a new model have been found, suggesting a launch planned for this year, probably for the month of September of this same year, on the same date that the iPhone 8 is scheduled to be presented and probably the third generation of the Apple Watch.

The first physical reference in a software of the J105a code was found in the HomePod firmware also by Guilherme Rambo, in which reference was made to a Dolby Vision system and HDR 10. But the first clear indication, after the publication of Bloomberg was found in the development logs of a Cupertino IP, that showed the AppleTV 6 model,2 a model that is not available for sale, since the fourth generation Apple TV is known as AppleTV 5,2. At the moment we can only wait for the next keynote, a keynote that will probably be the last of the year to see if all the devices that have their announcement scheduled on that date are confirmed or not.
