Melbourne Apple Store will not feature Pagoda-shaped design

The siting and design of the new Melbourne Apple Store has been in the midst of controversy since the construction project started. Apple is looking for representative points to open its stores, but this has not been the most opportune for merchants and visitors to Federation Square.

The Apple Store occupies a prime location, surrounded by views. Many organizations criticized the site as it would receive a large number of visitors, losing the charm of the place. Subsequently Apple was accused of breaking the harmony of the place with the design of the building with roof shaped pagoda.

We know the news from the Federation Square website. The original design included parts of the roof in a sloping shape. The new structure changes for a more square appearance. For the general public, this new design is more suitable for the architectural complex of the center.

Now we find balconies at the top, where we can contemplate the views. At the top of the building, we find solar panels, which allows the building to be self-sufficient in terms of energy efficiency.

For the decision of the final design, they have held various meetings, both members of the Federation Square Management, government and local administration officials and of course Apple itself. The Federation Square CEO Jonathan Tribe, commented in relation to the Apple Store:

It is consistent with the Federation Square Civic and Cultural Charter, which recognizes Melbourne's existence as a hub of creativity and innovation

The store will finally be erected on a 5 square meter parcel over several floors, next to a Melbourne subway station. It will have the usual spaces of Apple stores, including the area for the congregation of visitors in meetings and presentations.

We have known Apple's intentions since December 2017, when Apple conveyed its intentions on the new build. Apple's plans will run from 2019, to inaugurate it sometime in 2020. Apple will employ more than 2 employees in this new store.
