Little by little we are getting to know the content that Apple television will have planned for the first months of 2019. One of the latest content that comes to light is an adaptation of the film "Time Bandits" known in Spain as Los Héroes del Tiempo.
Apple wants the film that was successful in the early '80s to be adapted in series format, for apple tv content grid. As far as we know, the content will be suitable for all audiences, leaving harder and more adjusted content for a specific audience profile.
We know the information from the magazine Deadline, The show will be co-produced by Anonymous Content, Paramount Television and Media Rights Capital.
Released in 1980, Time Bandits is a dark and irreverent adventure about the imagination, the value and the nature of our dreams. Follow the Time Travel Adventures of 11 Year Old History Buff Named Kevin who, one night, bumps into six dwarfs coming out of his closet. They are former workers of the Supreme Being who have stolen a map that traces all the holes in the fabric of space-time, using it to jump from one historical era to the next in order to steal wealth. Throughout the film, they meet various historical and fictional characters, such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Robin Hood. Meanwhile, the Supreme Being tries at the same time to reach them and recover the map.
As in most publications that we know of Apple television, we do not have more details, to the point that we begin to think that it is part of the company's commercial strategy. It is also possible that more details are not offered, as the deal with the company has not been completely closed or the filming of the chapters has not started.
Apple hopes to carve a niche in the crowded streaming TV market, which are gradually taking over Netflix, Amazon and HBO, but also local media.
