The new MacBook Air expands its external display configurations

MacBook Air

Apple has revolutionized the week with new devices that it has put up for sale on its website. The exceptionality of the moment means that all its physical stores around the planet except in China are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This means that if you are going to buy one of these products online, you will not be able to physically see it and test it. You will have to make the decision only based on the information you see through the internet. If you are thinking of buying the new MacBook Air, we explain a new feature that a priori has not been given much importance: there are new resolutions for external screens.

The new MacBook Air is now available. It has a new updated Magic Keyboard, new processors and double the storage. But there is also another new feature compared to the previous model: the video output settings for external displays have been expanded.

the 2019 MacBook Air already had a good external video output, considering that it is not a machine intended for very demanding workflows such as graphic design. Apple has wanted to extend this feature and now the new model offers external displays compatible with 6K displays.

This means that now if you want you can connect a screen to the MacBook Air ProDisplay XDR or any current 6K screen or the new ones that will undoubtedly hit the market soon.

Apart from being compatible with the native resolution of the MacBook Air, if you connect it to an external display, you have the following settings available:

  • 6K external display. Resolution of 6.016 x 3.384 pixels at 60 Hz sample rate.
  • 5K external display. Resolution of 5.120 x 2.880 pixels at 60 Hz sample rate.
  • Up to two simultaneous 4K displays. Resolution of 4.096 x 2.304 pixels at 60 Hz sample rate.

Great news for those who not only use their laptop independently, but connect it to a larger screen at your usual place of work.
