The second-generation HomePod could incorporate Face ID

HomePod with Face ID in 2019

The first Apple smart speaker, the so-called HomePod. This first model will be the way in which to directly attack the home with a connected device and with which to interact with voice commands through the Siri assistant.

The company in charge of its construction is located in Taiwan. And from there rumors come through the CEO of the construction company Inventec Appliances. According to its head, they would already be working on the next model. And this one would come with news in terms of recognition technologies. Yes, exactly, we mean Face ID.

This unlocking system is one of the safest today. The error rate is considerably higher than what can be found in the current Touch ID. Hence, Apple wants to implement this system on other computers. The first that has sounded strongly is next year's iPad. And we are not surprised. What's more, this iPad could look closer to the iPhone X than the iPhone 8.

Well, what would make it so interesting to implement Face ID on the second-generation HomePod? Well, we must remember that the iPhone X not only serves to unlock the terminal, but is designed to authorize payments through the Apple Pay platform or send the popular Animojis. In this way, a HomePod user could authorize payments through the smart speaker, making the life of the users much easier and giving them an extra in the possible acquisition. That is, an example would be to be able to make the weekly purchase through Amazon —for example— and when it is time to pay, just stand in front of the camera with your eyes open and the payment is made automatically. Now, we do not expect all these changes until the end of 2018 or the beginning of 2019.
