And it is that this very weekend the guys from iFixit have denied that currently the equipment cannot be repaired from Apple that add the T2 chip in the iMac Pro and MacBook Pro. It all comes from a internal document leaked on the net in which it talks about the impossibility of repairing these Macs outside of the company's official technical service.
iFixit often performs repairs on Apple computers and they have found that the activation software mentioned in that document is still not working right now, so they can continue to repair the equipment that reaches their stores, at least for now.
The most common repairs are those that require this software
And it is that in that document it was explained that to repair the screen, keyboard, trackpad, Touch ID or motherboard of the MacBook Pro and iMac Pro board or internal memory with T2 chip, it was necessary to have the activation software since without it the computers could be blocked without the possibility of starting. Well now it seems that this remains for the moment in a simple internal document since after changing the screen of a new MacBook Pro 2018, the iFixit guys have confirmed that everything worked fine and the Mac could be reactivated without any problem.
The truth is that it is still just as complicated to carry out repairs on any Mac today, obviously everything is progressing and having most of the components soldered or glued is usually the main problem that SATs find to repair equipment. To this we have to add the possible problems of changing a component as important as the fingerprint sensor or the flash memory soldered on the board, something that right now is within the reach of very few and that it is supposed to be exclusive to Apple in no time.
