The transition from Intel to ARM processors closer, Apple registers the Rosetta brand

Apple Rosette 2005

We have been many months, I would even say more than a year, talking about the transition that Apple is preparing to start adopting ARM processors to replace those of Intel, a process that will be long and that will probably begin with the range of laptops for, shortly little by little, and maybe, expand to the entire range of Macs.

The latest news related to this transition can be found in Japan, where Apple registered the Apple Rosetta brand on April 30, according to Asashi.com. Rosetta was the name of the Apple emulator that allowed Applications designed for PowerPC processors run on Intel processors.

Rosetta came with OS X 10.4 to provide application support for all users who had transitioned from PowerPC to Intel. keep using your apps until the developer released a version adapted to the new processors.

This news only confirms rumors about Intel's transition to ARM, a process that will require the collaboration of developers, as long as they are on the job. If not, they could continue to use the application through this emulator until Apple wants.

The first Mac powered by an ARM processor is initially planned for next year. Previously, Apple has to create a macOS version for ARM processors or perhaps, use a new version of iOS adapted to these devices, since both the iPhone and the iPad are already managed by ARM processors today.

Moment we don't have much information about the adaptation plans that Apple has in this regard, so we will have to wait for the next few months to see how the important change that would involve moving from Intel to ARM processors evolves.
