The Zoom app is updated for the M1 and removes the 40 minute limit during the Christmas holidays

The zoom app updates on macOS

Since we were forced to remain locked in our homes since mid-March, applications to make video calls have become our daily bread, with Zoom being the one that more has stood out above others, although security problems have made it less popular with companies and governments in many countries.

The guys at Zoom have just released a new update to their application for macOS, update offering native support for computers managed by Apple Silicon processors, processors that have been available on the market for a few weeks in the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini.

Before the release of this update, Zoom users were using Rosetta 2 to continue using this application on Macs managed by Apple's M1 processor, and according to them, the equipment worked normally without consuming so many resources as if it happens with the version for Intel, where the fans were put at maximum power.

To download the application, you can do it from the Zoom download center, where will you have to select what type of version you want: Intel or Apple Silicon.

No time limit for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve

Many of us are going to spend the Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve parties at home without the possibility of meeting with friends or family. So that these parties are more bearable, the guys at Zoom remove the 40 minute limit during these two celebrations, specifically between the dates:

  • December 23 at 10 am ET to December 26 at 6 am ET.
  • From December 30 at 10 a.m. ET to January 2 at 6 a.m. ET.

Thanks to this measure, many will be the users who will be able to spend the holidays in the company of their family and friends even through the screen of their televisions.

In order to take advantage of this promotion, users they have absolutely nothing to do, just use the service during those days to enjoy the elimination of the limit of 40 minutes per video call.
