Installation problems.
It may be the case that the problems arise from the beginning, that is, from the installation itself. Don't worry, because it has an easy solution. It may be due to a saturation in Apple's servers (At this point it is difficult to get the error: "The network connection was lost" or "The installation of MacOS could not continue"). It may also happen because you need free space on your hard drive. macOS Catalina requires 15-20 GB of free space to complete the installation.
Sidecar problems
Before you get upset that this feature of macOS Catalaina doesn't work, make sure you have the necessary hardware for everything to work. That is, a 27-inch or newer iMac, a MacBook Pro from 2016, a Mac Mini from 2018, a Mac Pro from 2019, a MacBook Air from 2018, or a MacBook from 2016.
I am sorry to inform you that if your equipment is older, Sidecar will not work. I know you don't understand, but Apple's business is like that. Sidecar is a true wonder, but you have to have the latest from Apple to enjoy it.
If you have the necessary equipment but it doesn't work, make sure you have wifi, bluetooth and handoff enabled.
Problems with third-party applications and software.
We know that macOS Catalina, does not get along at the moment with some applications like Adobe Photoshop o some DJ apps. In this case, the solution is very easy. It's called patience. Because until third-party companies implement the necessary software to make it fully compatible with the operating system, you can't do anything except wait and not update.
Remember that one of the novelties of macOS Catalina is support for 64-bit applications only. Those of 32 will no longer work.
Another of the great novelties is the privacy management that the new operating system carries out. When you download new software, you must grant permissions that will appear in a pop-up window, more iOS style. You will have to accept them if you want the program to run normally.
Compatibility issues between macOS Catalina and third-party hardware.
There are also problems with some graphics cards. As with the software, we just have to wait for Apple to release a patch to correct these problems, Or, give up its use because the company thinks that it is too old hardware and it will not give compatibility.
Problems with bluetooth have also been detected. The solution is to "forget" the paired devices and make the connection again. In most cases, the problem is solved this way. Another option to repair is that you access a file where the bluetooth preferences are saved and delete it. Go to / Library / Preferences and there you will see a file titled "Com.apple.Bluetooth.plist" Delete it, restart your Mac, and pair the device in question again.
If your problem is with the mouse. The first thing you should do is use a wired one. Again you have to access / Library / Preferences and look for the file "Com.apple.com.apple.AppleMultitouchMouse.plist" and "com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist". Eliminate them. Restart your Mac and you can regain control of the cursor.
Finally indicate that whenever a new operating system is installed, the computer may be a little slower. macOS Catalina runs various programs in the background. Give it time and it will return to normal. It is a matter of patience. But if you see that the issue is not solved, you are going too slow, you may have to install this version of macOS from scratch. That usually fixes this problem.
There is one last problem, but unfortunately it has no solution. Very few users have complained that once macOS Catalina is installed, the Mac is left as a paperweight. At the moment it is not known why and therefore no solution has yet been found. Let's hope it doesn't happen to you.
