These are the new MacBooks that become "vintage"

Apple computers, whether laptops or desktops, have always been characterized by their durability and longevity (something that we could not say about the Pro range equipment with the butterfly keyboard). Despite their longevity, there always comes a time when Apple has to stop offering them official support.

In an internal memorandum accessed by MacRumors, Apple lists the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models that will enter into the category vintage, a category that includes equipment that has not been manufactured in the last 5 years but has less than 7.

MacBook Air and Pro models becoming products vintage are:

  • MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013)
  • MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013)
  • MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2014)
  • MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2014)

Users of these products will continue to receive support by Apple Support or your authorized dealer. The same happens with the rest of Apple products that are classified within this category, be it iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple TV ... devices that continue to be repaired by technicians at authorized centers.

The problem is found with the category obsolete, which are all those products that were manufactured more than 7 years ago. Apple does not offer the possibility of repairing them through its official stores or authorized centers, so the user has to make a living in other types of establishments.

Monster Beats brand products They are considered obsolete regardless of the date of purchase, so we have no way to repair them through official Apple channels, as is the case with all Apple products that were discontinued more than 7 years ago.
