What's new in Safari in this second macOS 11.3 public beta

Safari

In this second beta of macOS Big Sur‌ 11.3 we see that there are more news than had been seen at first. We can see for example that there are more customization options for Safari, adding a way to rearrange the different sections on the home page as Favorites. Reading List, Siri Suggestions, Privacy Report and more. Developers also have access to a new integration to develop features for the home page.

There is also support for the WebM video playback. That allows users to play WebM videos using the Apple browser. WebM is a niche video format designed to be a cost-free alternative to the H.264 codec used in the MP4 format. This format allows video files to remain small without sacrificing quality and can be played back with little processing power, making it ideal for web pages and browsers.

Touch Alternatives

In addition, there are optimizations for the use of iOS applications on Mac M1. When running iPhone and iPad apps on Mac ‌M1‌, there is a touch alternatives preferences panel which allows users to configure keyboard commands for touch input alternatives. Likewise, iPadOS applications start with a larger window if the Mac screen allows it. Touch alternatives can be enabled for the ‌iPhone or ‌iPad‌ applications by clicking on the application name in the menu bar. Then you have to select the Preferences option. With them we can customize touches, slides and drags.

Reminders

In the Reminders app, their lists can be sorted by expiration date, creation date, priority or title. There is an option to print lists by going to File and then selecting print. Reminders can also be manually moved through lists with drag and drop, something that was not possible before.

What's New in Apple Music

Apple Music sued for unfair competition

Apple is adding a new direct access to the library «Made For You»In Apple Music to find personal mixes and playlists. The listen section has now been updated with support for highlighting live events. In this second beta release, there is a new autoplay feature in the ‌Apple Music‌ app that allows the streaming service to continue playing music after a playlist or music queue ends. ‌Apple Music‌ generates music similar to what is in a person's library, similar to the autoplay feature added in iOS 14.

As well ‌Apple Music‌ audio will not end even after a playlist or album ends. To verify that it is on, you have to play a list or an album and then click on the context menu button in the upper right corner. From there, we have to make sure that the infinity symbol is activated.

New tabs in Apple News

A new tab ‌in Apple News‌ + redesigned with a dedicated "For you" section. Also a new "Browse" tab that makes it easier to navigate through the available content. The new For You section is designed to help ‌Apple News‌ + users find favorite magazines and newspapers much faster, as well as adding new tools to manage downloaded issues.
