In an internal statement from the North American company, Tim Cook explained to his employees why he finally met with the newly elected president of the United States, En a meeting that he did with the main CEOs of technology companies in the country.
Since then, an uncomfortable situation for the current president of the Cupertino company, after the multiple attacks received in the Trump campaign, such as the request to boycott Apple products by the current US president, as a result of the company's refusal to unlock the iPhone of a murderer, at the express request of the FBI.
Of course, the relationship between Trump and Apple has not gotten off to a good start in 2016. However, once assimilated that the presidency of the most powerful country in the world will be in the hands of Trump for at least the next 4 years, it's smart of Apple not to neglect its relationships with the government.

How important is it for Apple to engage with governments?
Very important. Governments can affect our ability to do what we do. They can affect both positively and not so positively. […] It's hard to make decisions like this. But we know that the way to deal with these matters is to go down to the sand. Whether in this country, or in Europe, or in China, or in South America, we are committed. And we commit when we agree and when we do not. I think this is very important because things are not changed just screaming. Things change showing which is the best way. The meeting was just a discussion of ideas. "
