Tim Cook has traveled to European soil for a momentous meeting with the current president of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron. The appointment will take place today in the early afternoon, around 16.15pm, at the Elysee Palace, habitual seat of the republican presidency and current domicile of the elected president.
The meeting that these two men will have causes great expectation, since they will exchange opinions on various aspects, such as the technological future of the country, taxes to be paid in the State, European policies with companies in the sector, and a large etcetera of which nothing has been revealed publicly.
France is one of the countries of the European continent with the greatest weight in the European institutions (along with Germany), as well as one of the countries with the highest consumption of Apple technology. For this reason, Tim Cook is in person today in front of Macron, to be able to see firsthand the opinion that exists on all these issues on the other side of the Atlantic.
One of the things that most worries the leader of the North American company, is the treatment of tax obligations with Europe, something that has been giving headaches to the guys from Cupertino for some time.
Macron will surely maintain his firm position so far, where he defends that the French country has greater competitiveness in terms of rates on companies. Something about which Cook will try to dissuade him, as the CEO of the Californian company prefers to maintain the current tax advantages.
Without a doubt, an important meeting for both sides. Perhaps the immediate future of the company on European soil will depend on it, since it relies on the weight of the French president throughout the European Union to convince the rest of the entourage that Apple's objectives are the most convenient for all affected parties.
