Tim Cook Opens New Carnegie Library Store in Washington with Mayor Help

Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square

In recent years, Apple has focused its strategy when opening new Apple Stores, on finding emblematic places, busy places of passage, historical buildings ... although it does not always succeed, since sometimes it faces not only to the refusal of the municipalities, but also to that of the citizens.

The last Apple Store that has just opened its doors is located in Washington, specifically in the Carnegie library, a historic building that has been completely renovated to accommodate a new and iconic Apple Store. This store officially opened last Saturday from the hand of Tim Cook and the mayor of the city, Muriel Bowser.

In addition to the head of Apple and the mayor of Washington, the head of Apple retail, Deirdre O'Brien, also attended, although the credit for this store goes to Angela Ahrendts, who officially left the company a month ago and Phil Schiller others well-known figures of the Cupertino-based company.

Tim Cook and Muriel Bowser's Twitter accounts published a series of images and videos of the moment in which the first buyers (or curious that surely there were a few) enter the Apple Store accompanied by a large number of media from some members of the store staff who applauded with a lot of enthusiasm (as usual).

The history of the opening of this Apple Store starts in 2016, when the Cupertino boys managed to get the approval of the city council despite criticism from some citizens, because the interior of this library had to be moved to another place in order to yield to the claims of a private company.

However, as the works have progressed, this historic building It has become Apple's largest historic restoration project to date, taking most of the work both the facade and the details that we can find inside. This new Apple Store will also host events, the first being the "Festival of Storytellers" between May 18 and June 29, an event in which 40 artists will participate.
