CEOs from across the American business technology landscape have signed an open letter urging the American Congress to pass legislation that regulates the rights and protects young immigrants threatened by the end of the DACA program (for its acronym in English of Deferred Action for Immigrant Youth).

Unsurprisingly, Tim Cook has joined this petition, a letter that defines the situation as a true internal crisis and where to proposes a bill to resolve this situation, along with CEOs of companies such as Facebook (Mark Zuckenberg), Amazon (Jeff Bezos), Google and other companies in the sector. In total, more than 100 executives sign it.

The proposed law, called "Dreamers" (dreamers), addressed to all legislators in the country, says:

“We write to urge Congress to act immediately and pass a permanent bipartisan legislative solution to allow the "Dreamers" who currently live, work and contribute to our communities continue to do so. The imminent completion of the DACA program is creating an internal crisis for workforces across the country.

In addition to causing tremendous turmoil in the lives of employees affected by the DACA program, Failure to act in time will lead to companies losing valuable talent, will cause work stoppages and significant costs. "

The expiration of this program, with a deadline on March 5, could have an impact on a decrease in the country's GDP of about $ 215 billion, according to a study by the CATO Institute.

It is not the first time that Apple is against the disappearance of this program. In support of "Dreamers", Apple recently commented:

“Apple and its customers have benefited greatly from the intelligence, ambition, creativity, resilience and hard work of our "Dreamers". These employees are important contributors to Apple's unique culture. That unique culture enables Apple employees to do the best work of their lives and excel at creating the most innovative products and the best customer service. "

In addition, already during the month of September, Tim Cook joined the call of the CEOs of relevant technology companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, HP, Google and so on, signing a letter requesting President-elect Donald Trump to maintain legal protection for immigrants under DACA, arguing that they are part of society, and that they are vital to the country's economy, because with them "we grow and create jobs."
