This is the main reason why the CEO of Apple has been awarded in these Newseum, freedom of expression. Cook has always defended racial equality, the privacy of people, the environment, civil rights, etc., and a clear example is when he made his homosexuality public when he was already CEO of Apple. Those who know him explain that this is not something new, but now in the role of boss he seems to have strengthened it and the image he offers to society is clear, direct and free.
The award they have awarded will be effective in April, when the organization of the Newseum will deliver it.
